NANDO PH – Weather state bureau PAGASA released the latest information about the tropical depression inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
Tropical Depression Mirasol had accelerated and left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at 6 AM on Thursday, September 18. It was expected to move northwestward to southern China and has the possibility of turning into a tropical storm.

On the other hand, Nando PH has maintained its strength east of the country, and recently, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has released the latest information about the tropical depression.
According to the issued update, it accelerates while moving northwestward 15 km/h over the Philippine Sea. At 4 PM, the location of its center was spotted at 1,260 km East of Central Luzon (15.7°N, 133.4°E), and it had maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 70 km/h, and a central pressure of 1002 hPa.
As Nando approaches the landmass, it is expected to potentially enhance the Southwest Monsoon, and based on the forecast, Wind Signal No. 1 will be hoisted over Northern Luzon as early as Saturday. The highest wind signal to be hoisted is Signal No. 5, and the possibility that it will reach the super typhoon category remains.
Based on the track and intensity outlook, it may reach typhoon category by Saturday, as it continues to intensify while over the Philippine Sea. The center of NANDO may either pass close to or make landfall over the Babuyan Islands.
Meanwhile, the Southwest Monsoon will bring strong to gale-force gusts over the following areas:
- Today: Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, and Zambales
- Tomorrow (19 September): Ilocos Region, Zambales, and Bataan
