Gretchen Barretto arrived at the DOJ for her counter-affidavit
Celebrity Gretchen Barretto submitted her counter-affidavit on her alleged involvement in the missing sabungeros case.
Gretchen has been away from the showbiz limelight for many years now. She lived a more private life and had some business ventures.
It is known to many that Gretchen was associated with wealthy businessman Atong Ang. There were even rumors that they had a romantic relationship, which they denied, and stressed that they have been business partners for many years already.

At one point, Gretchen was even visible in Atong’s E-sabong business. This business was subject to controversy when reports of missing cockfighting enthusiasts circulated.
Reportedly, the remains of the missing sabongeros were found in Taal Lake. The case was opened and “whistleblowers” accused Atong Ang of being the mastermind and allegedly involved Gretchen Barretto as involved.
Early this month, the Department of Justice (DOJ) issued subpoenas to Gretchen and Atong. On Sept. 18, the former actress went to the DOJ to submit her counter-affidavit for the first day of the prelimanary investigation on the case, based on the report from Inquirer.
Gretchen’s legal counsel said that the counter-affidavit reiterated that she is not involved in the case of the 34 missing sabungeros.

Atty. Alma Mallonga, the legal counsel of the former actress, said, “As you know, we have said from the very start that the accusations against Ms. Baretto stand on nothing.”
The lawyer also emphasized that in the complaint affidavit, what is being accused of Gretchen can be classified as “allegations, unsubstantiated, unproven, and at the end of the day, incredible; and the witness himself lacks credibility.”
Gretchen Barretto’s lawyer said that they are hoping that the case will be “disposed of quickly as justice demands.” The former actress refused to give any statement regarding the case. However, she believes that the investigation will be fair.
