Former President and now Pampanga Second District Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was caught on video abruptly changing her facial expression after shaking hands with Vice President Sarah Duterte.
GMA is one of the most prominent political figures in the Philippines. She became the second female President of the country and the longest to serve in this position.
After her presidency, GMA ran for Congresswoman in Pampanga. In the 2025 elections, she was reelected. Despite the past issues in her political career, she was still able to continue being a public servant.
A video of the former President caught the attention of the online community. The clip, which was shared by @justalurkersomewhere on Reddit under r/ChikaPH, showed that Cong, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, met Vice President Sara Duterte at an event.
In the short clip, it can be seen that GMA‘s back was facing the camera when she and VP Sara had their handshake. When the former President turned, facing the camera, it could be seen that she was still smiling.
However, a second later, that smile was abruptly changed into a serious face. This garnered various comments from netizens. Some found it funny, while some pointed out that it was proof of the “plastikan” in politics.
On the other hand, some netizens pointed out that no one can beat GMA’s political strategy because, after all the controversies she went through, she was able to bounce back. Some netizens even speculated that the former President is a political operator and that other officials are under her.
