Female Debutant Believes She Danced w/ Her Late Father During 18 Roses Dance
A female debutant believes she danced with her late father during the traditional 18 roses dance through her brother.
The debut party celebration in Batangas started with joy and laughter, as friends and family gathered to honor 18-year-old Aria Mae delos Santos. But the atmosphere shifted when it was time for her last dance, which she shared with her older brother.
As they began to dance, her brother called her by a nickname that only their father used when he was alive. The way it was spoken carried the same tone and affection her father once had, leaving Aria and her relatives stunned.
“Nagulat po ako nung lumapit na po yung brother ko. Tinawag niya na po ako sa nickname ko yung sa ‘Dayang’ nga raw po. Iba po kasi yung way nung [pagtawag] kay Papa. Kapag yung sa father ko na po is may tono po siya ng ‘Dayang-dayang’ na kanta,” Aria said.
Aria lost her father 10 years ago when she was still in grade school. Hearing that familiar voice during her special night overwhelmed her with tears. She shared that it felt as if her father was there with her, speaking through her brother to remind her how proud he was.
Family members and guests could not hold back their emotions. Many were seen crying and hugging Aria as she tried to make sense of what happened.
However, her brother, appeared confused after the dance and admitted later that he could not recall the moment clearly, as if he had just woken from a dream. “Para daw po siyang bagong gising na hindi na namalayan nasa unahan na, nasa tabi ko daw po. Hindi naman po siya noon lasing,” she added.
The incident left many believing that Aria’s father had found a way to be part of her special day. While some doubted the story, Aria expressed that what mattered most was the chance to feel her father’s presence once again. For her, it was a priceless gift on her debut.
