MARCOS JR. – The President gave a message for the Ilocanos as he honored his late father, former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., on his 108th birthday.

In the history of the Philippine politics, the Arroyos, the Aquinos, and the Marcoses are the three (3) families who have two (2) members of their clan winning the presidential election. The country is currently led by Pres. Bongbong Marcos, the only son of the late former Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Sr. and former First Lady Imelda Marcos.

The country is currently facing a lot of issues. The flood control mess in the nation has left Pres. Marcos and countless Filipinos disappointed and angry. Several ‘ghost’ and substandard flood control projects funded by the government were discovered.

Despite the nation’s many problems, during a podcast interview, Marcos Jr. said he has no regrets in being the president despite the problems of PH. According to him, the presidency is a huge privilege and it is an opportunity for him to do something about the things that he is complaining about all his life.

Today, the late father of Pres. Bongbong Marcos is supposedly celebrating his 108th birthday. A wreath-laying ceremony was held in honor of the late former Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Sr. in their hometown, Batac, Ilocos Norte. Marcos Jr. led the event.

At the even in honor of the late former Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Sr., Pres. Bongbong Marcos stressed the importance of remembering the “deep legacy” of his father by living a life of “service, commitment, and sacrifice”. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Marcos Jr. also urged his fellow Ilocanos to live up to the standards set by his late father.

“What we need to do is to make ourselves worthy of that legacy, worthy inheritors of that legacy. That we must also live up to the standards that he set for us. That we must always continue to remember what we are doing, and that what we are doing is not for ourselves. What we are doing is for the country. What we are doing is for the Filipino people,” the President said.

Furthermore, based on the report, Pres. Bongbong Marcos also told the IIocanos that they must be motivated by the lessons that his late father has left — which is to exercise good judgment and always side with the national interest.

Marcos Jr. also stressed in his speech that the late former President also left lessons about “respect” and “fight for the dignity of every Filipino”. Based on the report, the current Chief Executive also recalled his late father’s words about finding one’s path in life.

According to Pres. Bongbong Marcos, his late father usually told him not to go by the “path that is well-trodden” but to make his own way. Based on the report, the former President advised his son that if he will keep on following other people, he will end up in just the same place.

“That is the most important lesson – in that we cannot continue to just do as we refer to it now “business as usual,” just go and continue what has always been done,” Marcos Jr. said.

The President is also set to celebrate his birthday on September 13. Ahead of it, Pres. Bongbong Marcos has shared his birthday wish.
