Lady Netizen Shares Frustration Over Taxes on Almost Everything
A lady netizen expressed her frustration over the endless taxes in the country while some politicians continue to steal freely.
Recently, Elizabeth Caoile, a Facebook user, shared her frustration about the never-ending taxes that Filipinos face every day. The post quickly circulated online and elicited comments from the internet users.
Caoile reiterated that almost every action in the country seems to be taxed. She shared her recent experiences from doing grocery shopping where over twelve percent of the bill immediately goes to tax, to dining out where value-added tax appears again on the receipt.

Even her Netflix subscription, she said, now has an added charge due to the 12% VAT on digital services.
Elizabeth also pointed out that online shopping platforms like Shopee and TikTok collect taxes from sellers, even if customers don’t see it. She added that even gaming platforms like Steam charge sales tax at checkout.
For her, it feels like no matter what you do, there is always a deduction. She said, is the thought of where all these taxes go. She expressed anger that ordinary business owners can easily get penalized for a simple delay in filing taxes, while some politicians accused of stealing billions remain unpunished and without shame.

Elizabeth ended her message by encouraging people not to stay silent. She urged everyone to keep talking about these issues so that leaders would be held accountable.
Here is the full post:
Pati sa Steam, bago makapag-checkout, may “sales tax will be calculated” pa
Grabe. Kada galaw mo, may buwis.
Huwag tayong manahimik. Huwag nating hayaang mamatay ang issue na ‘to.”
