Grandma Who Withdrew P100 to Buy Donuts for Granddaughter Moves Content Creator
A content creator shared his emotional encounter with an elderly woman making a transaction at an ATM in Antipolo City.
Recently, Bobby Rodriguez, a Facebook user, shared that he was lining up at a convenience store ATM when he noticed an elderly woman making a transaction. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw her check her account balance, which showed only P150. After a long pause, she decided to withdraw P100, leaving just P50 in her account.
“The screen showed Php 150.00. She stared at it for what felt like forever, then pressed ‘Withdraw Cash’. She typed 100.00. My heart sank. I could tell she needed that money,” Rodriguez wrote.
Beside her was her granddaughter. Bobby later overheard her telling the child that they would buy doughnuts from the store’s buy-one-take-one promo so they could enjoy a treat together.
“After she got the cash, I overheard her say they’d buy the buy-one-take-one doughnuts promo at 7/11 so she and her apo could enjoy a snack together,” he added.
Instead of withdrawing money for himself, he went straight to the cashier and bought a box of assorted doughnuts and two sodas. He approached the woman and handed her the snacks, telling her he could not finish them and wanted her to have them instead.
The elderly woman simply said thank you. Her eyes welled up, and Bobby admitted that his own voice shook as he spoke.
In his post, Rodriguez expressed how the experience left him both sad and angry. He said it hurt to see someone spend nearly everything they had just to make their grandchild happy, while many in power continue to live in luxury despite corruption and misuse of public funds.
The content creator hoped that the simple gesture brought happiness to the grandmother and her granddaughter. For him, the experience reminds him of how small acts of kindness can make a big difference, especially for those who have so little.
