DOJ issues subpoena to Gretchen Barretto and Atong Ang over the missing sabungeros case.
The Department of Justice has issued subpoenas to Gretchen Barretto, Atong Ang, and 60 other alleged suspects of the missing sabungeros.
In a case related to the cockfighting enthusiasts who went missing four years ago, the Department of Justice (DOJ) previously released an Immigration Lookout Bulletin Order (ILBO) against the alleged suspects based on the claims of a whistleblower.

Businessman Charlie Atong Ang, actress Gretchen Barretto, Retired Lt. Gen. Jonnel Estomo, and many others were dragged into the case. These are the individuals who supposedly belong to Ang’s “Alpha Group,” and the people behind the killing of the missing sabungeros, with Ang as the mastermind.
In a previous report, 401 “human skeletal remains” were recovered from Taal Lake, and it seems more are to be found as the search operation still continues. Whistleblower Julie “Dondon” Patidongan, or alias “Totoy,” claimed that the sabungeros were thrown into the depths of the lake.
Recently, based on the latest developments, Prosecutor General Richard Anthony Fadullon revealed that the Department of Justice (DOJ) had already served subpoenas on Tuesday, September 9. The process of serving is still ongoing because there are several people involved in the case. Serving of subpoenas is personally done.
“Ang goal po natin is to have everyone served their subpoenas by today,” DOJ spokesman Mico Clavano said in a press briefing. Subpoenas were also issued against former National Capital Region Police Office chief, retired Police General Jonnel Estomo, and 18 cops.
To recall, Ang, Barretto, and Estomo previously denied the allegations against them. Ang also filed a complaint against Patidongan, his former employee, for conspiracy to commit attempted robbery with violence against or intimidation of persons, grave threats, grave coercion, slander, and incrimination against innocent persons.
The first hearing is scheduled on September 18.
