QC Cong. Arjo Atayde Reacts To Claim of Discayas Linking him in Flood Control Mess
ARJO ATAYDE – The Quezon City Congressman junked the claim of the Discayas that he allegedly got kickback from the flood control deals.
During the current Senate flood probe, for the first time, both of the Discaya couple appeared. Pacifico “Curlee” Discaya and Cezarah “Sarah” Discaya are the most prominent personalities among the contractors flagged by President Bongbong Marcos.

Previously, Pres. Bongbong Marcos claimed that five (5) contractors were awarded with government flood control projects in almost all regions across the nation. He also flagged the 15 contractors which got around P100 billion from the P545 billion government spending on flood control projects.

Amid the flood control projects issue in the Philippines that left not only the President but as well as countless Filipinos disappointed, the Senate launched its own probe led by the Blue Ribbon Committee. Currently, a Senate flood probe is ongoing and the Discayas dropped names.

Curlee and Sarah Discaya claimed in their joint affidavit which was read by the husband at the Senate hearing there are allegedly congressmen and officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) who receive money from them. She admitted that there is a culture of kickback.
Sarah Discaya also claimed that they initially did not want to join the “system” but they were forced to for their family and their workers who rely on their firms.
“Dahil sa aming paglaban sa mga tiwaling bidding, maraming beses namin naranasan na madisqualify ng Bids and Awards Committee ng DPWH na hawak ng mga mambabatas na nagpondo sa proyekto… Napilitan kaming makisama sa kalakaran kahit labag sa aming kalooban,” she said.
Quezon City Rep. Arjo Atayde was one of the congressmen accused by the Discayas. Aside from him, the names of Pasig Rep. Roman Romulo and Marikina Rep. Marcy Teodoro were also mentioned.

QC Rep. Arjo Atayde is undeniably one of the most popular congressmen in the country now. He is already very prominent as an actor before he joined politics. He is the multi-awarded actor son of veteran actress Sylvia Sanchez, the sister of actress Ria Sanchez, and the husband of Kapuso star Maine Mendoza.
Following the accusation of the Discayas, QC Rep. Arjo Atayde quickly junked the claims of the Discayas. Based on a post of News5 on social media, he claimed that he has never dealt with the said contractors and he categorically denies benefitting from them.
“Hindi po totoo ang mga akusasyon na ito. I have never used my position for personal gain, and I never will. I will avail of all remedies under the law to clear my name and hold accountable those who spread these falsehoods,” Atayde said.
As the Senate hearing is ongoing, more updates may be posted soon.
Amid the issue, the Bureau of Customs secured the custody of all 28 luxury cars of the Discayas.
