Henyo Master Joey de Leon garnered laughter because of his “patama” against contractors amid the flood control project issue.
Joey is known for his clever word play and jokes that would make you think. He has been in the entertainment industry for many years and his humor was featured in various comedy movies and shows.
On a daily basis, Joey would share funny banters with his co-hosts in the longest-running noontime show Eat Bulaga that is currently airing on TV5.
Joey de Leon, just like other TV hosts, is aware of current events and would often use this for a funny remark. In a recent episiode of the noontime show, during the Gimme Five: Laro Ng Mga Working Pinoy Henyo segment, Joey directly mentioned “Discaya” when the contestant was prompted to provide sea animals that start with letter “D,” based on the article in Abante.
The surname Discaya became a trending topic after Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto called out veteran journalists Korina Sanchez and Julius Babao for interviewing the businesswoman amid the allegation that her company is involved in the alleged anomaly in flood control projects.
This garnered laughter from the studio audience. Other hosts of the show were also amused by that. Aside from Discaya, Joey also mentioned “contractors.” Then, Joey said that the cash prize for the segment The Clone: Ka- Voice of the Stars was supposed to be higher that what was given. However, he said that “contractors” took some of the money.
Meanwhile, Joey de Leon has an emotional reconciliation with his son Keempee de Leon early this year. The father and son haven’t talked to each other for a long time. Keempee took the initiative to start the reconciliation by visiting the Eat Bulaga studio.
