Netizen Calls Liza Soberano Hypocrite, Actress Fires Back W/ Strong Words
LIZA SOBERANO – Fil-Am actress Liza Soberano did not hold back after receiving a stinging remark from a netizen who branded her a hypocrite.
Liza Soberano recently stood her ground against an online critic who labeled her a “hypocrite” after she spoke up about a social issue in the Philippines.
The issue started when the actress reacted to an ABS-CBN News report about authorities rescuing several minors in Taguig. While many netizens supported her concern, one user on X (formerly Twitter) accused her of being selective when speaking about social issues, claiming she only chooses to comment on problems in the Philippines.

The basher wrote: “Hypocrite @lizasoberano. You dip your fingers in PH society again because you can’t criticize sensitive issues vs US, your birthland and now homeland. Your own claimed trauma happened in the US, so why didn’t you call out US government agencies that protect children’s rights and welfare?”
The message drew the attention of Liza herself, who did not hesitate to fire back and clarify her stand. “I don’t know, maybe because I’m more passionate about Filipino people? Maybe because literally nobody else with a platform is willing to shed light and talk about the horrible things happening to the Filipino people,” she explained in her reply.
Liza went on to emphasize that, unlike in the United States, the Philippines lacks influential voices who are willing to tackle sensitive issues openly. “If I’m being honest, the Philippines does not have a lot of that and it’s people like you that are perpetuating the abuse and lack of accountability. Instead of acknowledging that there are things that need fixing, you’d rather turn a blind eye because it’s not affecting you,” she added.

Her strong words resonated with supporters who praised her for using her platform to speak up despite criticism. By the end of her response, Liza firmly condemned the netizen’s remark, writing: “Shame on you. Shame on everyone who remains silent when evil things are being done to the people around you.”
Through this exchange, the actress once again showed that she is unafraid to defend her advocacy and continue voicing her concerns for Filipinos, even in the face of online negativity.
