Edu Manzano has this reminder to his fellow taxpayers
Veteran actor Edu Manzano reminded taxpayers that there is no such thing as government funds because it is taxpayers’ funds.
Edu has been in the entertainment industry since the 80s. He has done various movies and TV shows. Aside from being an actor, Edu also had some remarkable hosting stints. He was one of the showbiz personalities who eventually ventured into politics.
Edu served as Vice Mayor of Makati City from 1998 to 2001. After that, he did not run for any position and just focused on his showbiz career.
Just recently, the veteran actor caught the attention of the online community because of his entertaining posts regarding the issue of flood control projects, involving the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the contractors’ lavish lifestyles.
He garnered funny comments because of these kinds of posts, and he was also admired for speaking up about the issue.
In a recent social media post, Edu Manzano reminded his fellow taxpayers to be vigilant regarding the taxes they are paying. “Mga ka-taxpayer, tandaan niyo ‘to, wala talagang ‘pera ng gobyerno.’ Pera nating lahat ‘yan! Kaya bawat proyekto, bawat serbisyo, invested tayo d’yan. Sulitin natin, bantayan natin,” the veteran actor said.
He pointed out that even buying simple products like vinegar, salt, soy sauce, and even water would be considered that someone a taxpayer. Edu said that some Pinoy may consider that they do not pay taxes if they don’t have a job. “Pero lahat ng namomroblema sa araw-araw, lahat ng bumibili ng makakain…kasama ka sa mga taxpayer,” he stressed.
The veteran actor added that this matter is not just about rich people or those who are employed, because everyone should be involved in this fight. In the art card that Edu Manzano shared, it was stated, “There is no such thing as government funded, it’s all taxpayer-funded.“
