Filipino Fans Freak Out Over Wednesday’s Surprise Use of Tagalog in Season 2
WEDNESDAY – Netflix’s Wednesday is trending once again—this time not for its gothic thrills, but for a surprising nod to Filipino culture in its latest season.
Filipino viewers of the popular Netflix supernatural series Wednesday were caught off guard when the show suddenly featured dialogue in Filipino during the sixth episode of its second season.
The memorable moment took place in a scene with werewolf Bruno Yuson, played by Filipino-American actor Noah Taylor, who was on a phone call while Enid Sinclair, portrayed by Emma Myers, stood nearby. Prior to answering, Bruno’s phone had been receiving multiple messages, building up to the surprising exchange.

“Miss na kita. Miss ko na ‘yung pagpasyal natin sa beach. Miss ko na lalo ‘yung mga matamis na labi mo. Baba ko na ‘to, mahal ko,” Bruno said over the phone.
Enid happened to overhear and grew curious. Bruno quickly claimed he was “just talking” to his “mom in the Philippines,” but Enid was skeptical. She remarked that he and his mother “are awfully close,” then repeated his Filipino lines before questioning whether he was hiding a girlfriend.
“Was that really your girlfriend back home you failed to mention in act of time-honored misogynistic deception?” she teased.
Flustered, Bruno asked how she even knew the language. Enid revealed she had “picked it up” from Datu, her “Filipino fencing instructor.” Bruno admitted he wanted to come clean but said, “it’s complicated.”
Enid quickly ended things with a stinging response: “Let me uncomplicate it. We’re done. ‘Wag mo na akong kausapin, manlolokong taksil.”
The use of Filipino left many fans in the Philippines thrilled, with social media buzzing about the scene. Viewers expressed both surprise and pride, noting how seamlessly the lines blended into the dialogue.
Taylor, the actor behind Bruno, is a Filipino-American teen who also pursues music. He has shared in past interviews that he “did a lot of takes” to secure the role. His background mirrors his character in some ways, as his mother is Filipino while his father is American.
Netflix rolled out the first half of Wednesday’s second season in August, with the concluding episodes released on September 3. This season continues to follow Wednesday Addams as she navigates new threats and challenges at Nevermore Academy.
