Viral Police Dog Kobe Receives Dog Food Donations from NAPOLCOM

KOBE – The viral police dog received dog food donations from the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM).

Previously, a police dog named Kobe has captured the hearts of netizens after his photo went viral online. Many were concerned about his slim body, sparking discussions about the care and welfare of police service dogs.

Kobe, a Belgian Malinois serving under the Philippine National Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine Group (PNP EOD/K9), recently returned from a 15-day refresher training.

According to the Regional Explosive Canine Unit-NCR, Kobe’s slim physique is normal after undergoing intense training sessions. They assured the public that Kobe, along with the other K9s in the unit, is in good health and is receiving proper nutrition and veterinary care.

The National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) donated dog food to the PNP EOD/K9. The donation will not only benefit Kobe but also other service dogs in the unit, ensuring they stay healthy and ready for duty.

“Napolcom turned over dog food donations to the Philippine National Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine Group (PNP EOD/K-9) for Kobe, the Belgian Malinois police dog who recently went viral,” the agency stated.

The gesture was appreciated by the police unit, as these dogs play an important role in public safety, from detecting explosives to assisting in critical operations. The act also emphasized the importance of caring for working animals who dedicate their lives to protecting the public.

Alongside this donation, NAPOLCOM also announced that its Inspection, Monitoring, and Investigation Service has facilitated the filing of an administrative case against policemen allegedly involved in past controversies, including cases related to the war on drugs and missing sabungeros.

NAPOLCOM emphasized its commitment to ensuring accountability and fairness within the police force. Their goal remains to uphold justice while maintaining public trust.
