Police Officer Injured After Being Stabbed During Hot Pursuit Operation in Negros Oriental
A police officer was critically injured after being stabbed in the eye during a hot pursuit operation in Barangay Milagrosa, Sta. Catalina, Negros Oriental.
On Tuesday evening (September 2, 2025), initial investigation revealed that the police team had responded to a stabbing incident in the barangay. Officials informed them that the 35-year-old suspect was hiding inside his house.
Acting quickly, the police launched a hot pursuit operation and successfully located and arrested the suspect.

However, during the arrest, the suspect suddenly attacked one of the officers, stabbing him directly in the eye. The wounded officer was immediately rushed to a hospital in Bayawan City where doctors reported that a major artery in his eye had been hit, causing severe bleeding. Fortunately, his condition has since been declared stable.
The suspect attempted to escape by jumping out of a window but was eventually caught near a river in the barangay. He is now in police custody and facing multiple charges.
Authorities confirmed that before attacking the police, the suspect had stabbed a 58-year-old woman several times. The incident reportedly started when the woman refused to sell him alcoholic drinks.
It led to a violent confrontation where the suspect grabbed her hand and stabbed her seven times. The victim is currently receiving medical treatment.
The residents expressed fear over the violent attack. Police officials praised the bravery of their team and assured the public that justice will be served. They also reminded the community to immediately report suspicious activities so that authorities can respond before situations escalate into violence.
As of this writing, the public hopes for the full recovery of the injured police officer and the woman who was also hurt in the incident.
