After a heavy downpour, several parts of Quezon City were submerged.
Metro Manila’s traffic nightmare worsened after hours of heavy rain drenched and submerged several parts of Quezon City on Saturday.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) identified several flood-affected areas after a low-pressure area (LPA) within the Philippine area of responsibility brought heavy rains across the capital. The heavy downpour has submerged several parts of Quezon City, which worsened the traffic nightmare on Saturday, August 30.
In the middle of Saturday afternoon, motorists along EDSA, Commonwealth, C5, and Katipunan were forced to slowly navigate through floodwaters that reached from gutter level to knee-deep. Although most major roads were still technically passable, the MMDA warned that smaller or lighter vehicles would face a higher risk of stalling, particularly in Katipunan, the Aurora service road, Commonwealth Technohub, and Winston, where waters were already knee deep.
