Sharon Cuneta Says Goodbye (For Now) to Fans w/ Emotional Social Media Post
SHARON CUNETA – After previously admitting the toll social media has taken on her, Sharon Cuneta has decided to go on another hiatus.
Sharon Cuneta has once again chosen to step away from the online world. On August 28, the award-winning actress and singer announced through Instagram that she will be out of reach for several days, except to her family, as she takes another break from social media and outside distractions.
The 59-year-old Kapamilya icon wrote, “Hi, everyone! I will be taking a rest from Social Media and my phone will be off. I will only use the one phone I use for my family. No contact with friends and co-workers—family lang talaga. I need to detox. So I will be out of touch for several days. My mind and emotions are gonna take a vacation from everything extra! Love you all. See you again soon! God bless you always. 💖💖💖🤗🥰😘🙏🏻”
Sharon Cuneta has taken similar breaks in the past. Just last year, she stayed offline for a month while recovering from a hip issue. During that time, Cuneta reflected on how social media had impacted her negatively.
In a previous post, she admitted, “For two months I really did nothing but check on myself. I detoxed from social media. My God this is so embarrassing. I realized because of social media I started becoming somebody I didn’t like at all. I started becoming another person I would really despise.”
She also looked back at her earlier experiences with online criticism during the early Twitter days. “In the beginning, the Twitter days, parang feeling mo mommy ka na pinapagalitan mo like ‘ano ‘yan why are you talking like this its oh my God bastos ka!’ Now I realize especially when people would hurt me with their words my tendency as human being is to get mad because hurt people hurt people and I so regret that I should’ve been my own self that would rise above that,” the Megastar confessed.
Sharon’s latest decision to disconnect comes after she recently expressed pride in the achievements of her daughters, KC Concepcion and Frankie Pangilinan. Earlier this August, KC was reappointed as a World Food Programme (WFP) Goodwill Ambassador, a role she previously held in 2008 as National Ambassador Against Hunger.
