Here’s a weather update from PAGASA about the low pressure area.
PAGASA WEATHER UPDATE – A low pressure area has already dissipated, but another one is brewing and likely to become a tropical depression.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) released the latest information about the low pressure area (LPA) being monitored now inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

Previously, the weather state bureau reported that the LPA east of Luzon fizzled out on Wednesday morning at 8 AM. Another one over the West Philippine Sea is also being monitored, and based on the recent weather bulletin, this LPA has a high chance of developing into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours.
By then, it will be called Jacinto. However, it is also forecast to exit PAR within the day.
At 3 PM on Wednesday, it was spotted 305 kilometers west of Dagupan City, Pangasinan. The trough of the LPA, along with the southwest monsoon, will continue to bring scattered rain showers over Luzon, the Visayas, and the western and northern parts of Mindanao. Landslides and floods were possible in these areas, PAGASA added.
Some areas on Wednesday, August 27, have suspended classes due to inclement weather.
Meanwhile, here’s the heavy rainfall outlook due to the Southwest Monsoon that is affecting Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao:
- Today to tomorrow afternoon (August 28, 50-100 mm):
- Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, and Antique
- Tomorrow afternoon to Friday afternoon (August 29, 50-100 mm):
- Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, Antique, and Iloilo
Based on the forecast, the trough of LPA may bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms in Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, and CALABARZON. Flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains are possible.
The Southwest Monsoon, on the other hand, will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms in Visayas, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga; and partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms to the rest of Mindanao.
