This is why Mayor Vico Sotto called out the journalists who interviewed the Discayas.
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto insists confrontation is needed to address problems and stands by what he said in his viral post.
Previously, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto made headlines because of his post that featured screenshots of the interviews of Sarah and Curlee Discaya with seasoned broadcasters Korina Sanchez and Julius Babao.

The seasoned broadcasters denied the allegations and firmly refuted that there was a hefty amount involved in the feature they did through the lifestyle angle. The company of Discayas and others linked to them are involved in the alleged anomalies in the multi-billion-peso flood control projects.
Recently, the Pasig City mayor spoke and clarified his post, stressing the need for someone to spark and open the discussion. For him, this is a necessary step toward accountability if the nation is to achieve improvement.
He called out the journalists who interviewed the contractors, without dropping names, for giving undue exposure to the Discaya couple. As mentioned, their companies have been under scrutiny due to allegedly anomalous flood control projects.
According to him, these are the opportunities that could mislead the public, as the features only highlight the positives about them, and not the reported “fraud, misdeclarations, paggamit ng dummy, anomalies in different contracts,” which he has already mentioned in an interview in October 2024.
“Kasi konektado lahat yun, e. Umiikot yung pera, umiikot yung… Isang malaking sistema yan, e, na unti-unti dapat nating binabasag,” he expressed. He acknowledged the different reactions because of what he did, but what matters most to him is that it sparked discussions.
He was already aware of the alleged anomalies even before they became a major issue, but chose to remain silent, waiting for the right time to speak. At the time, he was in a compromised position, as they were his rivals in the Pasig mayoral race during the midterm elections, and any statements against them would have been dismissed as mere political maneuvering. Hence, he waited and looked for the right time to speak.
During his proclamation last July 30, he firmly expressed that someone must be held accountable for allegedly owing billions of pesos in taxes to both the national and local governments.
