PNP Chief Nicolas Torre III “Nag-iimpake na,” Ready To Leave White House In Camp Crame

According to reports, PNP Chief Nicolas Torre III already knew he was relieved before it was even announced.

PNP Chief Nicolas Torre III is already packing his bags, preparing to leave the White House in Camp Crame, where he lived during his time as PNP chief.

On Tuesday, President Bongbong Marcos sacked Philippine National Police Chief Police General Nicolas Torre III, almost three months after he was appointed. To recall, he was the CIDG chief behind the highly-publicized arrests of former president Rodrigo Duterte in March 2025 and alleged trafficker Apollo Quiboloy in September 2024.

Torre did not commit any legal violation that warranted his relief from duty, and replacing him was his second-in-command, Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez, Jr. He is Marcos’ 4th PNP chief and the 31st PNP chief, succeeding Police General Rommel Marbil. He is the first graduate of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) to head the organization after serving as chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).

DILG Secretary and Napolcom chairperson Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla confirmed that the commission nullified some of the reshuffles approved by Torre during his stint as chief, which became one of the reasons behind the president’s difficult but necessary decision.

Reports indicated that Torre was informed of his removal a day before it was officially announced to the public. During his tenure as PNP chief, he resided at the White House inside Camp Crame.

After the announcement of his removal, Torre began packing his belongings as he prepared to leave his post. He has accepted the president’s decision to relieve him from his position, showing no visible resistance. However, his family was caught off guard by the sudden turn of events and expressed that they were both surprised and saddened by the development.
