74-Year-Old Grandmother in Marikina Sustained Injuries After Being Hit by SUV
A 74-year-old grandmother was left injured after being struck by a speeding SUV while crossing the pedestrian lane.
Last Saturday morning (August 23, 2025), the victim, identified as Dolora De Gala, was on her way home from a relative’s house when the accident happened along A. Bonifacio Avenue in Barangay Tañong, Marikina City, early Saturday morning.

In the CCTV, Dolora can be seen using the pedestrian lane when the SUV came rushing in her direction and hit her before quickly driving away.
De Gala managed to call her sister to ask for help. Barangay officials and kindhearted motorists immediately came to her aid, while witnesses provided the plate number and evidence that helped authorities identify the vehicle involved.
The grandmother sustained a wound on her forehead, requiring nine stitches, along with injuries on her knees and side.
Her family, especially her granddaughter Nicole, expressed frustration over the driver’s lack of concern, pointing out how dangerous the situation could have been if another car had followed from behind.
Barangay officials confirmed that the SUV’s plate number has already been reported to the police. They also learned that the vehicle was recently put up for sale online, and efforts are now underway to determine the driver’s identity.
“Nananawagan kami roon sa driver. Nakita namin ‘yung plate number nung humabol, ito’y napag-bigay alam namin sa alagad ng batas, ito’y may plate number na NFS 6570. ‘Yun talaga ‘yung nakita nung mga rider. Kung sino po ‘yung nagma-may-ari nung sasakyan, tulungan po ninyo ang pamilya. Alam niyo naman po na naka-aksidente kayo,” Del Castillo said.
Authorities and the victim’s family are appealing to the driver to surrender, stressing that fleeing the scene has only worsened the case.
De Gala is now recovering at home, grateful to the riders who stopped to help her during the frightening ordeal.
