Netizens rallied behind Mayor Vico Sotto
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto received support from many netizens after he called out veteran journalists Korina Sanchez and Julius Babao.
Mayor Vico is known and admired for his good governance. With his three terms now as the Mayor of Pasig City, he has already shown a lot of improvement, and his constituents are supportive of his projects and every endeavor he does for the people.
The Mayor is also known for his transparency. He is fond of sharing information about the things being done in Pasig, including the issues and allegations against him.
Just recently, Mayor Vico Sotto’s post went viral because it featured the past interview conducted by Korina Sanchez and Julius Babao with businesswoman Sarah Discaya.
The businesswoman was the Mayor’s opponent in the 2025 mayoralty race. Previously, Mayor Vico showed a document stating that the Discaya family owns the companies mentioned by President Bongbong Marcos that were involved in the shady flood control projects with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
On August 21. Mayor Vico shared another intriguing post calling out “veteran journalists” who interviewed a “Contractor” who joined politics. “Hindi ba nila naisip na, “Uy teka, ba’t kaya handa ’to magbigay ng 10 million* para lang magpa-interview sa akin??” the Mayor wrote in the caption of her post, featuring screenshots of Korina Sanchez and Julius Babao’s interviews with Sarah Discaya.
Korina’s camp explained in a statement that the featured interview was to show the “rags-to-riches” story of Discaya and had nothing to do with investigative journalism.
Julius also stressed in his statement that the interview happened before the campaign period to stress that it has no political colors. He also denied that P10 million was given as a payment for that interview.
