Ogie Diaz Sparks Talk on Early Announcements for 2028 Presidential Hopefuls
OGIE DIAZ – Vlogger and talent manager Ogie Diaz has ignited discussions online after calling on potential presidential candidates for 2028 to reveal their plans sooner rather than later.
Ogie Diaz has sparked conversations online after urging potential presidential candidates for the 2028 elections to declare their bids as early as possible. According to Diaz, delaying such announcements only limits the public’s chance to assess who is truly capable of leading the country.
In his recent social media post, Diaz pointed out that Vice President Sara Duterte continues to lead in early surveys, largely due to public expectations that she will run. He noted that if no strong contender announces a candidacy soon, Duterte’s chances of securing the presidency will become even more solid.

The former talent manager also praised the qualities of former Vice President Leni Robredo, describing her as a leader with integrity, a clean track record, and no history of corruption. Despite strong calls from her supporters to consider another run, Robredo has remained quiet about her political plans.
Diaz also mentioned Senators Raffy and Erwin Tulfo, who both enjoy high survey ratings but have yet to make any formal declarations. For Diaz, their silence reflects a wider issue—potential leaders waiting too long to announce, which deprives the public of sufficient time to weigh their choices.
Another figure Diaz brought into the discussion was Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto. He lamented that Sotto does not meet the current 40-year-old minimum age requirement for presidential candidates, remarking that if he were eligible, “the boxing would be over.” Diaz even floated the idea of a Charter Change to lower the presidential age requirement to 35 or 38, suggesting that modern governance could benefit from younger leaders attuned to digital and societal shifts.

He also challenged the notion that it is “too early” to declare, stressing that late announcements in 2027 would leave candidates struggling to catch up. Finally, he reminded aspirants to prepare for political mudslinging and misinformation, saying the best defense is to counter fake news with “fact news with receipts.”
Diaz’s bold remarks highlight how discussions about the 2028 elections are already underway, with influential voices like his calling for transparency and decisive leadership.
