Jericho Rosales talked about his new movie project
Kapamilya actor Jericho Rosales shared how he prepared for his role in the upcoming movie Quezon, which is a historical biopic on President Manuel Quezon.
Jericho has already done various projects that have proven his acting caliber. This year, he was given a chance to portray an iconic character.
In a recent interview, based on the article in ABS-CBN, the actor shared that he did deep research about the former president before the shooting took place.
Jericho Rosales took an effort to read the script multiple times with the intention to immerse himself in his story.
“They gave me ‘yung autobiography niya, of course ang kapal nung materials na pwede mong babasahin. I read history books. ‘Yung pinaka-important for me to do is to read the script, think I read it five times… until ma-feel ko na siya,” the A-list actor said.
Aside from this, he also studied Manuel Quezon’s mannerisms and how he spoke. He said that the former president was a “cool” one, but his voice was different.
The actor said that he also trained her voice and gave attention to his pitch. Then, he and the production team worked on his looks.
“We discussed, how are we going to approach this? Do we copy the exact thing. So pumunta sila sa bahay, binuhusan ng semento ‘yung ulo ko, it’s on my Instagram para makuha ‘yung bust,” he said.
He added that he also had his bust where the prosthetics to match the face, and this was a long process.
Jericho shared that on their first day, he spent seven or eight hours sitting. They have more than five look tests before deciding what to use.
They started with the hair and forehead, with the chin, nose, ears, and neck, with consideration what age Quezon was age at that time. Their director, Jerrold Tarog, and their team worked closely to make sure they did well in imitating Quezon’s look. “We all decided we just need to get the essence of the man,” he said.
Jericho Rosales also shared that she spoke with historians to understand more deeply who Quezon was. When they were already shooting, the actor said that there were still discussions between him and his co-stars regarding what they knew about the former president.
