Netizens questioned the capacity of actress Nadia Montenegro to receive this kind of salary as the political affairs officer of Senator Robin Padilla.
Nadia’s name became controversial after write-ups surfaced that a member of Sen. Robin’s staff was caught smoking “mary jane” inside the ladies’ room in the Senate building.
It started as a blind item, but eventually, her name was mentioned. In a statement she submitted to the office of Sen. Robin, Nadia explained her side.
She stressed that when the incident happened, she used the PWD comfort and did not enter the ladies’ room. The actress also stressed that there was no proof that she possessed “mary jane,” but admitted that she has a vape.
Amid the issue, Sen. Robin’s office defended her. She also received support from Gary Valenciano’s wife, Angeli Pangilinan, who came to her defense.
However, Nadia Montenegro decided to resign from her job, but stressed that this does not mean that she was guilty of what she was accused of. She cited that the reason for her resignation was to prioritize her mental health.
Nadia said that even her children were affected by this issue as they received negative comments online.
While the issue remains a hot topic on social media, a Reddit user shared a document showing the salaries of political affairs officers. This position belonged to “Salary Grade 24,” which meant that the starting salary was around Php 98,000 and could reach over Php 100,000.
In the comment section on @EmbraceFortress’s post on Reddit, many netizens expressed negative reactions to Nadia Montenegro.
The netizen shared a post about the requirements needed by the House of Representatives for Political Affairs Officer III. One of the qualifications that was stated was a “lawyer” or a “Bar passer.”
