Grade 12 In Cebu Dies After Collapsing During School Dance Performance

Hearts were broken after a Grade 12 in Cebu passed away after collapsing.

A student from Grade 12 in Cebu collapsed in the middle of her dance presentation and was declared dead on arrival when rushed to the hospital.

What happened in Cebu City has shed light on the importance of student welfare and health. A grade 12 student of Tuburan National High School, and a resident of Barangay 8 of the town, had passed away.

She collapsed while in the middle of a dance performance on Monday, August 18, 2025, at around 2:30 PM. The performance was part of the culmination program of the “Buwan ng Wika” celebration at the institution.

According to the witnesses, she suffered from a seizure after collapsing, and the school staff and emergency responders were quick to attend to her. She was then immediately transported to the Tuburan District Hospital.

The 17-year-old student was declared dead on arrival. Her mother shared that she had joined a fun run two days earlier and still insisted on participating in the school activity despite not feeling well. The young girl experienced muscle pain and body aches, which they believed was a result of her joining the fun run activity.

The police officers recommended doing an autopsy to determine the real cause of death, but the mother refused and waived. The school expressed grief and deepest condolences.

Meanwhile, last week, a male teacher died in Lanao del Sur after being shot by one of his students because of a failing grade. The shooting occurred inside the campus of Balabagan Trade School in Barangay Narra. The teacher was identified as Danilo Barba, while the student was named “Kaizer,” and he was just 20 years old. The incident left many in shock.
