Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Speaks on Alleged Problems in PH at Event in Kuwait
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President mentioned to the Filipinos in Kuwait the “difficult” process in seeking government assistance in the Philippines.
Amid the criticisms towards her frequent overseas trips, Vice Pres. Duterte claimed that she usually travels abroad because the Filipino communities are allegedly “frustrated” already over what is happening in the country. This year, she has been to several nations — four (4) countries in less than a month after the 2025 Midterm Elections.

After the elections wherein many of her senatorial bets won, Vice Pres. Duterte flew to Doha, Qatar to meet Duterte supporters there. Afterwards, she went to The Hague, Netherlands to visit former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte who is currently detained under the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC).
The elder Duterte is faced with an allegation of crimes against humanity over the drug war of his administration. Since March, the Vice President has flown to The Hague multiple times already for her father.

The Vice President also went to Malaysia and attended a Philippine Independence Day celebration with presidential sister and Senator Imee Marcos as well as Sen. Robin Padilla who are known Duterte allies. It was where Sen. Robin Padilla claimed that he will be the campaign manager of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte and Sen. Imee Marcos in 2028.

Recently, the office of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte confirmed that she went to Kuwait for an authorized trip that is aligned to her mandate as vice president. According to the Office of the Vice President, it is part of Duterte’s “mandate to represent and advocate for the welfare of all Filipinos, including those overseas”.
At the Hakbang ng Maisug event in Kuwait, the Vice President mentioned the problems in the Philippines. Based on a report on PhilStar, Duterte spoke about the Filipinos who are working abroad. According to her, the economy of the country has to be addressed because many overseas Filipino workers are working abroad not because they want to but because they allegedly could not find a job in the country.
“Because of the reason that they could not find adequate jobs. This is the most important thing that we could do for our countrymen,” the Vice President said.

Based on the report, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also spoke on the process of asking assistance from the government. According to the Vice President, it is “difficult” seek government aid as there are a lot of requirements that have to be taken from the different offices before one can obtain an assistance.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also compared the PH education with those abroad saying that there are still high school students in the country who cannot read yet while students in other countries can read at age three.
Duterte has served as the chief of the Department of Education from 2022 to 2024. However, her ties with Pres. Bongbong Marcos has turned sour.
