Quezon City Hall Employee Arrested for Extorting Money From Businessman in Exchange of Business PermitĀ 

A Quezon City Hall employee was arrested after being caught extorting money from a businessman in exchange for processing a business permit. 

On August 13, 2025 (Wednesday), the authorities launched an entrapment operation to arrest Quezon City Hall employee for extorting money from a businessman in exchange for processing a business permit and related documents.  

The city government expressed strong disapproval of the employee’s actions, stressing that corruption and bribery have no place in public service. Officials emphasized that such behavior goes against the principles of honesty and integrity that the local government strives to uphold.

ā€œSuch an action is unacceptable, go against the values of integrity and public service, and will never be tolerated,ā€ Quezon City Government wrote in a Facebook post. 

Authorities confirmed that the Quezon City Police District is already working with the city government to pursue the case against the suspect. At the same time, an internal investigation is being conducted to determine if other employees may have been involved. 

The incident reminds both residents and business owners that there is no need to deal with fixers or pay under-the-table fees to process permits.

The Quezon City government emphasized that all business permit applications are now fully available online, ensuring a more transparent and accessible process. 

ā€œThere is also no need to engage with fixers or middlemen, as our processes and permit applications are already 100% online,ā€ the statement reads. 

For many entrepreneurs, securing permits is an important step in running a legal business. However, cases like this can discourage honest business owners and erode trust in public offices. By addressing the issue quickly and openly, the local government hopes to reassure the public that it will not tolerate corrupt practices within its ranks.
