According to a report by GMA News “24 Oras,” the students, aged 19 to 25, were apprehended during a buy-bust operation. Police Colonel Cristine Tabdi, acting director of the Puerto Princesa City Police, said that the arrested individuals were identified as the source of “tuklaw” in the city. Along with the synthetic drug-laced cigarettes, police also confiscated marijuana. The suspects will face charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

“Tuklaw” cigarettes reportedly cause seizures in users, according to the police. It is worth noting that a video circulated on social media showing several young people having seizures on the side of the road after allegedly smoking “tuklaw.” This incident prompted the PNP to order a more thorough investigation to determine the source of the substance and curb its spread.

Based on the investigation, “tuklaw” is reportedly being sold online, with one milliliter of synthetic cannabinoid costing around P300. Authorities are still tracing where the suspects are obtaining it and are also examining possible illegal distribution routes.

PNP Chief Torre cautioned young people about the dangers of using tuklaw and other illegal substances, emphasizing that drug use does not improve a person’s appearance or life, but rather damages both.

The PNP continues its investigation while examining the potential sources and distribution routes of illegal drugs. Authorities assured the public that stricter monitoring and intensified anti-drug operations will continue to protect young people and prevent the further spread of these dangerous substances.
