Senate Scandal: Staff Accused of Smoking Mar*juana Inside Lawmaking Halls

Pot in the Premises? Senate Probes Mar*juana Allegations

SENATE – The Senate is facing a controversy after reports surfaced alleging that a staff member smoked mar*juana inside the very halls where laws are made.

The Senate’s Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms (OSAA) has confirmed it is looking into reports that a staff member allegedly smoked mar*juana within the legislative building. The office stressed that it will maintain its policy of conducting random drug tests on employees and staff while the investigation is underway.

In a statement, the OSAA said the report was brought to their attention only recently, and they are moving swiftly to address the matter. “We are still investigating this report since it was just reported to us recently… As part of our immediate action, we will continue the conduct of random drug tests among Senate employees and staff,” the office stated.

The OSAA added that once the inquiry is complete, findings will be submitted to the Senate President. The office is also committed to providing regular media updates to ensure transparency regarding the case’s progress.

According to some media accounts, security personnel allegedly traced the odor of mar*juana to the office of a senator. Inside, they reportedly found a staff member in the bathroom without any visible evidence. The individual allegedly claimed that the smell came from an air freshener. However, unnamed sources speculated that any potential evidence could have been disposed of before security arrived.

While the identity of the staffer and the senator’s office involved have not been disclosed, the incident has sparked discussions about workplace discipline and the need for stringent enforcement of rules in government institutions.

The OSAA emphasized that maintaining a professional and secure environment in the Senate is a top priority, noting that such allegations—if proven true—undermine the integrity of the institution. The ongoing random drug testing initiative, the office said, is meant to deter substance use and reassure the public that the Senate remains committed to upholding the law.

As the investigation continues, observers await further updates on whether the allegations will lead to administrative action, policy changes, or even criminal charges. The Senate leadership has yet to issue an official statement beyond the OSAA’s remarks.
