Business tycoon and San Miguel Corp. president and CEO Ramon Ang offered to help solve the flooding problem in Metro Manila.

The recent typhoons and LPAs brought heavy rains and led to flooding in many areas in the greater Manila area. Classes and work were suspended because of this.

Businesses and the daily routines of people were affected as well. Because of this, people of Metro Manila expressed their grievances, especially directed at the government.

On Friday, August 8, Ramon Ang faced the members of the media with Manila Mayor Isko Moreno.

Based on the video posted on the Inquirer page on X, formerly Twitter, the business tycoon said that he is willing to lend a helping hand in addressing the flooding problem in Metro Manila.

Ngayon, ako po, San Miguel, Ramon Ang, nagvo-volunteer ako ngayon na tutulong sa buong Metro Manila sa pag-solve ng baha,” he said.

Then, he said that he will do this “at no cost to the people [and] at no cost to the government.” He also said that he is ready to buy pieces of land to establish schools or housing projects, so that it can be avoided that these infrastructures will not be put near the river.

The business tycoon also stressed that there is no good that will happen if people just point fingers at each other. Ang said that the best thing to do is to locate where the problem is, and then work hand in hand to solve the problem.

Ramon Ang also highlighted what he and his company have done in the past in order to help solve the problem. The businessman also cited that a simple solution of cleaning rivers or the waterways is not being noticed. He added that when flooding happens, there is a tendency that many supposed “solutions” are being presented.
