Flood Submerges Baggao, Cagayan After Heavy Rains

Continuous Heavy Rains Cause Flood in Baggao, Cagayan

The town of Baggao in Cagayan was submerged in floodwaters following continuous heavy rains over parts of Northern Luzon.

On Thursday (August 7, 2025), a low-pressure area brings continuous heavy rains, which causes flooding over town of Baggao in Cagayan.

Recently, the Facebook page Cagayan Provincial Information Office shared photos of knee-deep flooding along Masical Road, making it difficult for vehicles and residents to pass through. The water level continued to rise as the rain poured throughout the day.

Several schools in Cagayan were also affected by the flood. Among those hit were Mocag Elementary School in Baggao, Iraga Elementary School in Solana, San Juan Elementary School in Lal-lo, and Enrile West Central School in Enrile.

Classrooms and school grounds were seen partly underwater, raising concerns over class suspensions and damage to school facilities.

Earlier, the weather bureau PAGASA warned that the regions of Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora would experience scattered to widespread rain showers and thunderstorms due to the LPA and enhanced southwest monsoon or habagat.

The weather conditions worsened quickly, leaving some areas unprepared for the amount of rain that fell in a short period.

Locals are now dealing with flooded roads, disrupted classes, and the threat of more rain in the coming days. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and reminding residents to stay alert and evacuate if needed.

As of now, clearing operations and relief efforts are underway, while many families remain on high alert in case the weather worsens again.
