Firetruck Responding to Fire Crashes Into House in Isabela, Leaving 2 Firefighters Injured

A firetruck on its way to respond to a fire incident ended up crashing into a house in San Agustin, Isabela. 

On Monday afternoon (August 4, 2025), a firetruck crash into a house in Isabela while responding to a fire. The incident left two firefighters injured. 

According to initial investigation, the firetruck reportedly lost its brakes while going down a sloped road in Barangay Dappig. The crew was in a hurry to reach a reported fire in the area when the brakes failed, causing the vehicle to go out of control.

Pababa kasi yun na daanan. Nagmamadali sila kasi may rerespondehan na alleged fire incident. Tapos dun biglang nawalan ng preno sa may pababa,” said Police Senior Master Sergeant Froilan Pablo. 

The firetruck veered off course and slammed into a residential house. Fortunately, no one inside the house was hurt, but two firefighters suffered injuries from the crash and were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. 

Despite the accident, help quickly came as residents and firefighters from the neighboring town of Jones worked hand in hand to stop a grassfire that was spreading close to several houses and a nearby school. Their quick action helped prevent the fire from getting worse.

Police are now waiting for further developments, especially regarding any arrangements that may be made between the homeowner and the Bureau of Fire Protection in San Agustin regarding the damage caused by the crash. 

Thankfully, no civilians were harmed, and the injured firefighters are now being cared for. It reminded the public of the dangers that emergency responders face not just at the fire scene, but on the road as well.
