DOE Announces Another Round of Oil Price Hike This Week
OIL PRICE UPDATE – Various fuel firms in the country are set to implement an oil price hike starting Tuesday (August 5, 2025)
Drivers across the country are once again facing higher fuel costs as oil companies announced a new round of price hikes. This week’s adjustment brings another blow to the pockets of motorists, especially as diesel and kerosene prices continue to rise for the fourth week in a row.
Gasoline prices will increase by P1.90 per liter, while diesel will go up by P1.20, and kerosene by P1.00. Major players like Shell and Seaoil have already confirmed the adjustments, and other firms are expected to follow.

The increase comes after a mix of price movements last week, where gasoline dropped slightly but diesel and kerosene saw small gains. Now, with a bigger jump in costs, many are bracing for the impact on transportation and daily expenses.
Global events have played a big role in the latest hike. The rise in oil prices is being blamed on fresh tensions in the international market, including the recent sanctions imposed by the United States on oil from Russia and Iran.
The improved trade ties between the U.S. and European Union have also pushed up demand, further tightening supply and driving up costs.

While fuel prices continue to climb, a price freeze is still being enforced for kerosene and LPG in areas declared under a state of calamity due to strong rains and floods last month.
With back-to-back increases and global uncertainty, drivers and consumers alike are left with little choice but to adjust. As the cost of fuel continues to climb, many are now finding new ways to stretch their budget just to keep moving forward.
