Telco Box Suddenly Blows Up After Truck Accidentally Snugs Hanging Cable

A telco box in Parañaque City suddenly blew up after a truck accidentally snagged a loose cable hanging from a post.

A telco box is a utility box used by telecom companies to house equipment like cables, wires, and connection points for internet, phone, or TV services. It helps distribute these services to homes, buildings, and businesses.

You’ll usually see telco boxes mounted on poles, placed on the ground, or attached to buildings. They are important parts of a city’s communication network and are used to manage and protect connections between the main service lines and individual users.

On early Thursday morning, July 31, 2025, a loud blast was heard across Brgy. San Martin De Porres in Parañaque City after a telco box blew up. The incident happened when a truck accidentally snagged a loose cable hanging from a post along Iba Street.

The sudden blast lit up the dark street like fireworks, creating bright sparks and a small flame. CCTV footage captured the moment the cable got caught and triggered the explosion. Luckily, the fire didn’t spread and was quickly put out by firefighters from the Bureau of Fire Protection–Parañaque.

Executive Officer Domingo Obligar of the barangay confirmed that the explosion occurred around 3 a.m. and also caused an internet outage in the area. The disruption didn’t affect many homes since the spot was near the Philippine National Construction Corporation warehouse, where there are few residents.

Right after the incident, the telco company sent its repair crew to the site. After about 10 hours of work, internet service was restored at around 2 p.m. the same day.

In another part of the CCTV footage, two motorcycles were seen crashing near the area at the same time, possibly due to the distraction caused by the sparks. Thankfully, no one was hurt.

Although the explosion caused a brief scare, prompt response from authorities and repair teams helped bring everything back to normal. Residents were relieved that no one was injured and that the situation was handled quickly and safely.
