In her Instagram Story, Ellen shared a screenshot of a private message she received from an individual seeking ₱18,000 to pay rent. The sender explained their financial struggles and pleaded for assistance.
“Dzae, need lang ug help. I’m in debt, in need ko ug makabayad sa rent na 18k. Bisan ug rent lang, dzae, please. Maluoy ka sakon. Do mabuang nakos ngita utangan wa jud. I swear to God, this is for my rental house payment. Grabeh jud ang life karon. Wa nako kabutwa 4 months. I spent too much sa laki hasta ngka utang nako. Hayst, hoping ma-help mo ko,” the message read.
Ellen, however, did not hold back in her reply. With her trademark frankness, she responded:
“Naol! May ka dai, laki ra imong gi gastohan — ako duha ka anak. Pag shor dinha. Pag-loan sa banko or unsa ba. Oag ampu mag uwan ug kwarta kai sabayan takag ampu na bagyohon tag kwarta,” she wrote.
Her blunt response, which translates to pointing out that she herself has two children and suggesting the sender try the bank or pray for money to fall from the sky, quickly went viral.
