Update on PNP Chief Nicolas Torre-Davao Mayor Baste Duterte Possible Charity Boxing Match

PNP CHIEF – Philippine National Police chief Nicolas Torre III said the Rizal Memorial Coliseum is already set for his boxing match with Davao City acting Mayor Baste Duterte.

Following the “fistfight” challenge of the acting mayor of Davao City, PNP chief Torre agreed to the challenge saying he and Mayor Baste Duterte can have a “charity boxing match”. He stressed that the proceeds may be donated to the victims of the typhoon and flood.

Torre said he will donate all his shares from the match to the typhoon and flood victims. He also proposed to have a 12-round match with sponsors per round so they can gather a huge amount of money to be donated to the flood and typhoon victims.

According to the PNP Chief, accepting the challenge of the son of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte is “nothing personal” for him. He claimed that he just sees it as an opportunity to be able to help the flood and typhoon victims.

Torre initially proposed to have their charity boxing match at the Araneta Coliseum at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday. According to him, it does not matter if there is not much time for them to practice or if Duterte has practiced.

However, Davao City acting Mayor Baste Duterte also laid his own conditions for a boxing match with PNP chief Nicolas Torre III. According to him, for the match to push through, he wants Torre to ask Pres. Bongbong Marcos to order the drug test among all the government officials.

Recently, despite the statement of Davao City acting Mayor Baste Duterte, PNP chief Nicolas Torre III announced the change in the venue for their possible charity boxing match. Based on a report on Inquirer, it will be held at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum instead of the Araneta Coliseum.

“The Rizal Memorial Coliseum is already set. A ring is already being set up there for Sunday. It’s up to him. Whether he shows up or not, we already have sponsors who said they were donating relief goods for those affected by the heavy rain and the flood,” Torre said.

Recently, the spokesperson of the Philippine National Police shared that PNP chief Nicolas Torre jogged under the rain as part of his preparation for his possible boxing match against Davao acting Mayor Baste Duterte.
