Statement of Malacañang on Torre-Duterte Boxing Match
Malacañang press officer undersecretary Claire T. Castro spoke shortly on the possible boxing match between Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Nicolas Torre and Davao City acting Mayor Baste Duterte.
After Davao City acting Mayor Baste Duterte claimed that he can allegedly take down PNP chief Nicolas Torre III in a “fistfight”, the head of the national police agreed for a boxing match with him. He announced his response to Duterte’s challenge during an interview with the press.

PNP chief Nicolas Torre III wanted his fight with Davao City acting Mayor Baste Duterte to be a “charity boxing match”. According to him, he will donate his share from the boxing match to the victims of flood and typhoon. The country is currently dealing with the impacts of Typhoon Crising and the Southwest Monsoon.
Torre also proposed that it will be better if there is a sponsor in every round. He wants a 12-round boxing match with Duterte so they raise many funds for the flood and typhoon victims.

PNP chief Nicolas Torre III has started his training for his possible boxing match versus Davao acting Mayor Baste Duterte. He hit the PNP gym for some boxing training. He also jogged 10 laps at the PNP Oval this morning despite the rain as he pushes through with his training.

However, Davao City acting Mayor Baste Duterte also laid his conditions for a boxing match against PNP chief Nicolas Torre III. According to him, he will agree on a charity boxing match with the PNP Chief if he could ask Pres. Bongbong Marcos to order the mandatory drug testing among the officials of the government.
Amid the issue between the PNP Chief and the acting mayor of Davao City, Malacañang was asked about its side on the possible Torre-Duterte boxing match. Based on a reel posted by ABS-CBN News, the reports about the possible boxing match between Davao City acting Mayor Baste Duterte and PNP chief Nicolas Torre III have reached them.

According to Malacañang press officer undersecretary Claire Castro, she is not sure if the boxing match between PNP chief Nicolas Torre III and Davao City acting Mayor Baste Duterte will push through. Meanwhile, based on the post, she wishes the two (2) good luck if it happens.
Recently, PNP chief Nicolas Torre claimed that the Rizal Memorial Coliseum is now being set for his boxing match with Davao City acting Mayor Baste Duterte. He also claimed that there are already sponsors.
