Emong PH Will Continue To Weaken, Signal No. 1 and 2 Still Up In These Areas

Here’s the latest about Emong PH, with the international name, Co-May.

PAGASA has released the latest bulletin about Emong PH, with Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal numbers 1 and 2 raised in these areas.

Crising, Dante, and Emong, combined with the southwest monsoon or Habagat, have battered the country in the past days. It resulted in class and work suspensions, and as of Thursday, 40 cities and municipalities were placed under a state of calamity across the country.

Crising and Dante are now out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR); however, Emong is still within PAR. Based on the latest from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Emong had already passed close to the Babuyan Islands and is nearing Batanes at 40 km/h moving north northeastward.

At 4 PM, the center of the tropical storm was over the coastal waters of Sabtang, Batanes (20.3°N, 121.9°E). It has maximum sustained winds of 85 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 115 km/h, and a central pressure of 992 hPa.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals are in effect.

  • Luzon:
    • Ilocos Norte, Apayao, and mainland Cagayan

Signal No. 2

  • Luzon:
    • Batanes and Babuyan Islands

According to the forecast, Emong will accelerate while moving north-northeastward until it exits PAR tomorrow morning, July 26. It will continue to weaken. Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Krosa is still outside PAR, and the weather state bureau continues to monitor this.

The enhanced Southwest Monsoon will bring strong to gale-force gusts over the following areas:

  • Today
    • Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Visayas, and Dinagat Islands
  • Tomorrow (26 July) and Sunday (27 July)
    • Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Aurora, Zambales, Bataan, Rizal, Quezon, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Palawan, Romblon, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Northern Samar, and Negros Occidental.
