Here’s an update about Emong PH, a tropical storm.
EMONG PH – PAGASA has released the latest update about the tropical storm and raised Signal No. 1 in these areas.
Two tropical storms batter the Philippines, and one of them is Emong. This is one of the two low pressure areas (LPAs) being observed in the past few days, and has now developed and reached the Tropical Storm category.

Based on the 5 PM update from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Emong intensified and is moving southwestward at 20 km/h over the Philippine Sea.
At 4 PM, the location of its center was spotted at 150 km West of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte (18.2°N, 119.1°E), estimated based on all available data.
As posted, Signal No. 1 was raised in these areas in Luzon:
- Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, the northern and western portions of Pangasinan (Dasol, Burgos, Agno, Bani, Bolinao, City of Alaminos, Mabini, Anda, Labrador, Sual, Binmaley, Dagupan City, Lingayen, Bugallon, Infanta, Sison, Mangaldan, San Fabian, San Jacinto, Pozorrubio), Apayao, Abra, and Benguet
The forecast stated that it would make landfall in Ilocos Sur, La Union, or Pangasinan tomorrow evening or on Friday (25 July) early morning. It is estimated to reach the severe tropical storm category before making landfall on Friday.
According to the update, the heavy rainfall was due to the Southwest Monsoon enhanced by DANTE and EMONG, both in the tropical storm category.
The enhanced Habagat will bring strong to gale-force gusts over:
- Today: Central Luzon, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Bicol Region, MIMAROPA, Visayas, Zamboanga del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, Camiguin, Dinagat Islands, and Davao Oriental.
- Tomorrow (24 July): Central Luzon, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Bicol Region, MIMAROPA, Visayas, Zamboanga del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, Camiguin, and Davao Oriental.
- Friday (25 July): Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Central Luzon, Metro Manila, Bicol Region, MIMAROPA, Visayas, Zamboanga del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, Camiguin, and Davao Oriental.
