DILG announces Walang Pasok in these areas, but netizens did not like how these were relayed.
In several posts, DILG declared walang pasok in these areas in a playful manner, but many netizens did not find it funny at all.
Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Catibayan Remulla is currently the Secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG). However, amid the difficulties due to the circumstances brought about by the Southwest Monsoon enhanced by Dante PH, the Low Pressure Area east of Batanes, and Tropical Cyclone WIPHA over Vietnam, playful posts from the DILG Facebook page amused many people online.

They were amused by how a supposed professional government agency is trying to be funny at a time of a disaster.
One commenter stressed how government announcements carry weight and influence during times like this. To read the playfulness in posts that declared class and work suspensions due to calamity, while thousands were struggling and displaced, lacked seriousness and empathy.

Others expressed that it lacked decency. Some stressed that there’s a right time and place to pull off this humor, and the time when public welfare is at stake is definitely not the time for it.
In a previous article, Malacañang has authorized the DILG chief to make class and work suspension announcements during inclement weather and disasters.
While many were amused, not in a light way, some netizens stated that funny updates like this don’t mean they are taking the situation lightly.
