Zanjoe Marudo can’t tolerate this toxic trait
Kapamilya actor Zanjoe Marudo revealed in a recent interview that he can’t stand this toxic trait in a person.
Zanjoe is the lead star in the movie How to Get Away From My Toxic Family. This is the most dramatic role he has so far. In the movie, he played the character of Arsenio.
In a recent interview, based on the article in ABS-CBN, the actor shared the part of his character he can relate to. Zanjoe shared that he and Arsenio are the same when it comes to having a big family.
They are also five siblings, and he is the middle child. Although he has a relative whose father is also working abroad, the situation was different.
“May pamangkin, siguro ’yung mga ganun eksena sa pelikula. Doon ako nakaka-relate sa mga kung paano niya alagaan ‘yung pamangkin niya, kung paano ‘yung dynamics niya sa ate niya, sa kuya niya, and sa mga ibang members ng family,” he shared.
On the other hand, Zanjoe said that in real life, he does not want to work far from home, unlike his character in the movie. He can’t take it being away from his family. However, if opportunities in the Philippines are really scarce, then he might consider working abroad.
However, the actor stressed that in reality, he will not allow himself and his family to reach the level of toxicity just like in the movie. “Siguro ‘yung hayaan ko ‘yung pamilya ko na umabot sa ganong sitwasyon, sa ganong point na sobrang toxic na,” he said.
He pointed out that there should be a clear communication line between the family members. For him, the problem starts when members start keeping secrets. Zanjoe also said that if there is no openness between the members, especially if there is a problem, then the issue will just aggravate.
The actor also shared that toxic trait in a person that he could not stand. “Siguro ‘yung guilt-tripping. Isa yon sa pinakaayaw ko, na babaliktarin ka. ’Yung walang accountability ‘yung mga tao,” he said.
Zanjoe Marudo also said that he does not like those who have no respect for other people’s boundaries. “Kasi ang hirap eh. ‘Di ba? Parang may kanya-kanya tayo. Nirerespeto mo ‘yung boundaries ng iba, tapos ikaw hindi ka nirerespeto,” the actor said.
Zanjoe admitted that it took him some time to learn how to stand up against this kind of toxicity.
