Police Arrest 3 Women in Antipolo for Using Fake Death Certificates to Solicit Money
Three women were arrested in Antipolo, Rizal for using fake death certificates and solicitation letters to ask for money.
On Thursday (July 18, 2025), the authorities arrest three women after they were caught going door to door using fake death certificates and solicitation letters to ask for money. The incident happened in Barangay San Isidro, where the women allegedly used made-up stories about the death of family members to gain sympathy from residents.
A 56-year-old resident shared that the suspects visited her home twice. During the first visit, they claimed a garbage collector had passed away. Out of sympathy, she made a small donation.
However, she became suspicious when they returned with a new story about a two-year-old child who had supposedly drowned. This time, they entered her gate without permission, prompting her to call the barangay.
The women continued to knock on doors in the area, asking for donations. When no one answered, they would peek into homes and allegedly take small items left outside. Barangay officials responded quickly, catching the three in the act.
Barangay San Isidro’s chief tanod confirmed that the documents the women used were fake. One had a fabricated death certificate, while the others only carried generic solicitation letters. None of the deaths they mentioned were real.
During questioning, the women admitted to what they had done. They explained that they were struggling financially, and a friend had taught them the scheme. One woman said she only joined because her husband had no job.
Another said she had two children and felt desperate. All of them expressed regret.
The three are now detained at the Antipolo police station and are facing charges of estafa and trespassing. Authorities reminded the public to be cautious of similar scams and to report any suspicious activity.
