James Yap was asked about the rumor linking him to Ciara Sotto
Basketball player-turned-politician James Yap denied that he has a romantic relationship with actress Ciara Sotto.
In 2022, a rumor started circulating, claiming that James and Ciara were a couple. Back then, the actress had already debunked the allegation. She explained that the rumor surfaced because they were seatmates at the party celebration of showbiz personality Annabelle Rama.
Early this month, the rumor linking James and Ciara once again circulated online. It was because of a netizen’s post “confirming” the alleged romantic connection between the basketball player and the actress.
In a recent statement, Ciara Sotto debunked her rumored relationship with James Yap. She stressed that she and James have no romantic relationship. The actress said that they are just friends.
Even a friend of the basketball player had no idea about the rumor, as James had not talked about this.
The Philippine Star entertainment writer Dolly Anne Carvajal shared in a recent article that she was able to talk to James Yap, who is one of her closest friends.
Dolly Anne asked James about the rumor linking him to Ciara. His answer was in his native tongue, Hiligaynon. “Kucho kucho lang yan, Miga (Thatās just a rumor, Miga),” the basketball player said.
Then, the entertainment writer asked James if he would be retiring from the Philippine Basketball Association to focus on his duties as a councilor in San Juan City; he said, “Guina dumdom ko ina (Iām thinking about it).ā
Meanwhile, James Yap’s rumored breakup with his partner Michela Cazzola circulated last year. They have two children. James did not speak about the status of his relationship with Michela. The basketball player also has a son with his ex-wife Queen of All Media Kris Aquino.
