Sara Duterte Spox Claims PH To Save Millions of Money if SC Rules for Dismissal of Impeachment Case

OVP Spokesperson Speaks on Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Impeachment Case

SARA DUTERTE – The spokesperson of the Office of the Vice President claimed that the government will allegedly be able to save millions if the Supreme Court rules for the dismissal of the impeachment case.

Vice Pres. Duterte was impeached by the House of Representatives last February. More than two-thirds of the lawmakers in the lower chamber signed the impeachment rap against the Vice President.

Duterte is surrounded by accusations of alleged misuse of Confidential Funds amid her impeachment. Her impeachment document was transmitted by the House of Representatives to the Senate.

However, the Senate impeachment court ruled for the remand of the Articles of Impeachment. Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero claimed that the return of Duterte’s impeachment does not equate to the dismissal or termination of the case. The Vice President was sent summons.

The senator judges have different takes on the impeachment case against Vice Pres. Duterte. The Duterte ally senators call for the dismissal of the impeachment case while there are senators who believe that the impeachment trial should push through.

Recently, the spokesperson of the Office of the Vice President (OVP), Atty. Ruth Castelo, claimed that if the Supreme Court rules in favor of the petitions seeking for the dismissal of the impeachment case against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.

The OVP Spox said Vice Pres. Duterte is ready if the Supreme Court sides with the impeachment case. Otherwise, she claimed that it will be a fortunate move for the country.

“If it’s not, if the Supreme Court says it cannot be heard at this time, then we’ll be very lucky actually as a country because we’ll save millions and millions of money on the trial that is technically defective from the beginning,” Castelo said.

Based on the report, the spokesperson of the office of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that it is allegedly better if the impeachment trial will not be pushed through to avoid the country wasting its resources. According to her, the government could spend on other matters instead of the trial which may face technical issues in the end.

The Social Weather Station conducted a survey on the impeachment case against the Vice President. The SWS survey showed that more Filipinos believe that Vice Pres. Sara Duterte must address the impeachment charges.
