Reckless Rider Faces Possible Sanctions After ‘Superman’ Stunt
A reckless rider in Negros Occidental is now facing possible penalties after performing ‘Superman’ stunt.
The Superman stunt on a motorcycle is a dangerous trick where the rider lies flat on their stomach across the seat of a moving motorcycle, stretching their arms forward like Superman flying through the air. While it might look cool or funny to some, it’s extremely risky.
On July 13, 2025, a motorcycle rider was seen lying flat on his motorcycle in a pose that resembled Superman, all while speeding down a public highway along the winding road of Orange Cliff in Don Salvador Benedicto.
Because of the video that circulated on social media, the Land Transportation Office in Region 6 (LTO-6) quickly launched an investigation. According to authorities, the rider’s action falls under reckless driving, which is a clear violation of Republic Act 4136.
LTO officials including their intelligence and law enforcement teams, went to the registered address of the motorcycle owner in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City. There, they issued a show cause order that requires the rider to explain his side of the story.
He has five days to give a written statement and explain why he shouldn’t face legal consequences. If no response is submitted, the LTO will move forward based on the information they already have.
The agency said the rider may face suspension or even cancellation of both his driver’s license and motorcycle registration, depending on the outcome of the review.
Authorities reminded the public that roads are not meant for dangerous tricks. While some might see such stunts as entertaining, they are life-threatening and put everyone at risk.
LTO Assistant Regional Director Jeck Conlu continues to remind all motorists to drive responsibly, especially in areas with sharp curves and steep terrain like the roads in Don Salvador Benedicto.
