Melai Cantiveros Reveals Why She Ditched the Plane for a Ship
MELAI CANTIVEROS – Kapamilya comedienne and TV host Melai Cantiveros had netizens talking after she revealed that she traveled 22 hours by ship instead of taking a plane to Cebu.
Melai Cantiveros recently went viral after sharing her unusual yet relatable travel choice to Cebu. Instead of flying by plane—a faster and more common mode of transport—Melai opted to take a 22-hour boat ride aboard a 2GO vessel.
In an Instagram post dated Friday, July 11, Melai revealed that she had to go to Cebu for work-related commitments, particularly to promote the new season of Kuan On One. Despite the urgency of her trip, she made the bold decision to travel by sea due to her deep-seated fear of flying.
“Shout out to my Papangkemkem kasi sinamahan ako talaga kasi from the very first place, takot ako mag-plane pero kasi, hindi pwede [na] di mag-promote ng Kuan On One Season 3 sa Cebu. So wala akong choice, kaysa mawalan ako ng work, I made up my mind [na] mag-barko via 2GO (22 hours, Manila-Cebu),” she shared.
The post included photos of her and husband Jason Francisco enjoying their time aboard the ship. Melai highlighted how the accommodations provided comfort and ease, despite just coming off the tail of tropical storm Bising. She clarified that her praise was not a paid endorsement but a genuine expression of appreciation.
“Sa tuwa namin sa accomodation nila and sa ganda pala and malaki ang barko, napanatag ang puso ko kahit kakaalis lang ng bagyong Bising, pero kasi kasama ko rin si Papang kaya laban na lang ako with the guidance ni Lord,” she wrote.
In her heartfelt conclusion, Melai thanked God and the staff of the vessel for a safe journey. “In Jesus’ name, salamat talaga, Lord, sa smooth and safe biyahe namin pa-Cebu. Andito na kami,” she said.
