One of the reasons why Cristy Fermin has settled her cyber libel issue with Sharon Cuneta and Kiko Pangilinan was Ogie Diaz.
Megastar Sharon Cuneta and Senator Kiko Pangilinan filed a cyber libel case last year against Cristy Fermin before the Makati City Prosecutors’ Office. The legal move was made after Fermin made false claims online about their family, specifically the Megastar’s relationship with her eldest daughter, KC Concepcion.
Just recently, after months of legal battle, Fermin settled the cyberlibel issue with Sharon and Kiko. Both parties agreed to an out-of-court settlement and even had a photo together to show reconciliation.
Fermin previously issued a public apology, and one of the people who played a significant role in the reconciliation was Ogie Diaz. The veteran showbiz columnist was emotional when she expressed appreciation for Diaz.
According to her, Diaz talked to the senator and asked for a “balato,” referring to the cyber libel issue against her.
Magiging emosyonal ako kasi po nag-uusap si Sharon at saka si Senator Kiko sa New York, siya naman pong pagtawag ni Ogie. At ang sabi niya, ‘Sen, isa lang naman yung hinihingi kong balato sa’yo. ‘Yung kay Ate Cristy. Nag-usap po sila. ‘Pagbalik aayusin natin,’” she shared.
She is sincerely grateful to her “anak-anakan” for doing this favor for her.
To recall, Cristy revealed that she lost against Sharon and Kiko. They filed five counts of libel against her, with each count amounting to Php 48,000.00. She paid a total of Php 240,000.00 for bail.
Meanwhile, the “mediation procedure” was affirmed by the Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 148. Pangilinan welcomed the case’s dismissal and was happy to be able to move forward. The Megastar was also happy and at peace over the reconciliation.
