Ruffa Gutierrez shared her thoughts on the beauty standard in showbiz
Actress-beauty queen Ruffa Gutierrez talked about receiving comments about her physical appearance.
Ruffa is one of the most beautiful faces in the Philippine entertainment industry. Aside from being an actress, she is also a beauty queen. Her recent acting project is the series Beauty Empire, which is focused on the beauty industry.
In a recent interview, based on the article in The Philippine Star, Ruffa, together with her co-stars Kapuso star Barbie Forteza and Kyline Alcantara, shared their thoughts on the beauty standard in showbiz.

Barbie said that as public figures, they should maintain a certain image, not just for the camera but also in front of the public. For her, there is a thin line between maintaining a good image and trying to fit into the beauty standards.
For Kyline, she does not feel the pressure as she is just putting out who she really is as a perso,n whether people will like it or not. The important thing for her is to stay true to herself.
Ruffa, since she started her career at the age of 13, she has witnessed the scrutiny and people tend to comment about physical appearance, but when they get to talk to that person, the perception would change, and they would say, “Mabait pala siya.”
“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but you can’t avoid it in our industry. Pag tumaba ka: ‘Ay, ang taba mo, bat ganun?’ Laging andun yung pamimintas,” she shared.
Ruffa also shared that she lost 22 pounds, and some women give birth while some suffer from hormone disorders that cause their weight gain.
“These are things we don’t get to share with other people. They just say, ‘Ay, tumaba siya.’ They don’t know that we’re also going through something,” the actress said.
Ruffa Gutierrez also said that she agreed with what Kyline Alcantara said, that people are more understanding now. She said that in the past, there was a certain mystery in celebrities, but with the help of social media platforms, they can now share what they are going through, and people would understand it.
