He has also already applied to the Witness Protection Program, and when he meets the qualifications, he will be returned to the Department of Justice.

According to the witness, businessman Charlie “Atong” Ang is the mastermind behind the mysterious disappearances. The mysterious disappearances happened four years ago, and until now, not even a bone has been discovered. Based on his claims, all 34 sabungeros were killed and thrown into Taal Lake; however, it is feared that there are over a hundred others who have met the same fate.

Gretchen Barretto was considered a suspect now after the witness identified her as among the alpha members and those who voted to have the sabungeros killed. In a statement through her counsel, the actress denied any involvement. She believed that truth and justice must prevail.

Recently, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Jaime Santiago expressed that they are willing to offer their technical expertise to the case. They can offer technical assistance in matters such as the use of lie detector tests and DNA analysis. These factors are crucial in an investigation.

Their forensic capabilities can do so much for the case. Santiago said, “Mabilis naming makukuha ang mga bangkay kung kinakailangan—sa DNA test, magaling ang NBI diyan. ‘Yung mga lumulutang, ‘yung mga nagsasalita, puwede naming isalang sa lie detector.”

Previously, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) said that the bones and other human remains may still be recovered from the lake if the claims are really true. The agency is also willing to extend its technical expertise for the case to be solved.
